Refined for Downwind Performance

Introducing the GDRS28, a new development in 1D's F18 gennaker programme.

The GDRS28 brings together years of downwind sail development, racing experience and aerodynamic engineering.

Developed as part of the 1DRS28 series, the design incorporates revised aerodynamic geometry, a new panel layout and redesigned construction details.

Particular attention has been given to the relationship between sail shape, camber distribution, twist characteristics and power delivery.

The objective is to achieve efficient aerodynamic performance while maintaining responsive and predictable handling across changing downwind sailing conditions.

Key Design Features

• New panel layout: Redesigned panel geometry and orientation developed with attention to the intended flying shape and structural behaviour.

• Refined aerodynamic geometry: Revised aspect ratio, camber distribution, twist characteristics and exit angles.

• Updated sail shaping: Revised three-dimensional geometry developed to refine the relationship between power generation and handling.

• New corner constructions: Redesigned reinforcement layouts and construction details.

• Responsive power delivery: Sail shape developed with attention to rapid power generation following gybes.

• Predictable handling: Particular attention to stability, trimming response and control during downwind sailing.
